Over the course of her career, Yoo Miseon has developed a distinct visual language that merges emotional depth with restrained formalism. Her practice has consistently drawn attention both in Korea and internationally. Most recently, her presentation at Art Central Hong Kong 2025 saw all works acquired by major collectors during the fair. The following month at EXPO CHICAGO, her acclaimed Inside series—an ongoing body of work since 2012—was acquired in full, further affirming her resonance on the global stage.

My Garden reveals a poetic space cultivated through the gradual accumulation of material, sensation, and time. Working with mineral pigments, along with gold, silver, and colored foils, Yoo Miseon layers and carves into the surface repeatedly—a process reminiscent of traditional inlay techniques. The resulting compositions are not merely pictorial but sensorial, where matter, light, density, and void are finely orchestrated into an intricate visual symphony.

In this series, richly hued backgrounds—deep cobalt blue, soft pink, celadon green, and luminous white—are not flat color fields but densely built spaces, bearing the sediment of time. From these surfaces, floral motifs, birds, and lines emerge as if afloat, constructing a quiet yet enduring rhythm. Yoo’s garden is not an image, but a meditative field—an invitation to stillness and introspection.

Soojeong Oh, Director of Suppoment Gallery, shares, “It’s been over a decade since we began working with Yoo Miseon. Her works possess a quiet force—an unspoken sensitivity that touches the heart deeply. This is the unique language that belongs only to her.”
More than a painting exhibition, My Garden offers a contemplative landscape—an intimate record of memory, emotion, and gentle restoration.
