Hyun Bhin KWON
Hyun Bhin KWON takes a long look at subjects and imagines their potential as a sculpture. Her work is itself a documentation of the gaze which often departs from mundane scenes encountered in nature. Nature is never static and being aware of its inherent and infinite possibilities and limitations, she accepts as it is while carefully trying to close the gap between it and the materials she picked. The mediums she often uses, such as stones or artificial materials like Styrofoam, are subjects of questioning and answering in the process of molding them closer to her imagination as well as traces of sculptural exploration. < HOURGLASS > is a demonstration of the artist’s sculptural imagination about an object that changes constantly as does cloud or water in a glass. Like an hourglass embodies the invisibility of time through the particles of sand silently falling down, the exhibition title connotes the time the artist spends on her works and attitudes towards them.
