One by one, objects caught at the edge of a still gaze.

Artist Bang Ziyoung portrays moments of stillness found in everyday life. In a world of constant change, she aims to capture these static moments, hoping that the emotions conveyed in her refined images will resonate more deeply than words. Layer by layer, she applies color until the emotions inherent in each hue are revealed in the direction she desires. The completed works may appear raw and simple at times, dark or blurred at others.

In her pieces, the boundaries between subjects are sometimes drawn clearly and decisively, while at other times, they are ambiguous and soft. This approach blurs the distinction between “here” and “there,” between “this moment” and “the next,” creating a visual overlap of time and emotion.

Spacing out becomes both a respite from emotions like depression and anxiety, and a time for renewal—a cycle of breathing in new air. The exhibition Space out <Zone. Time. Gaze> arises from the increasing social awareness of the depression and anxiety that modern individuals face. Confronting these emotions honestly, the artist captures the moments where the boundary between time and feeling becomes blurred. Through these moments of unconscious stillness, she leaves behind a unique visual language.This exhibition invites viewers to experience more than just a simple expression. It offers a process in which emotions encountered at the edge of a still gaze gradually settle and find order. In this blurred space, one can confront their own complex inner world and discover the quiet potential for healing.
