Hryanskim Anthropology Poster

Hryanskim’s second solo show at Galerie Gaia titled, Anthropology, will be held from July 2 to July 20, 2025. Anthropology explores the human condition through the depiction of animals which serve as metaphorical vessels.

Each piece embodies a specific narrative and presents a fairytale-like whimsy. Stylistically, the painting technique shifts from the tight rendering of his previous pieces in favor of a looser and more gestural brush technique.

Instead of the painstaking, planning stage required to create his previous bodies of work, this collection was created sporadically where every element was done freehand and in the moment.

As a result of this new approach, the work appears more playful and many of the paintings hide layers of unrealized and abandoned ideas. Each piece was created while living in Ljubljana, Slovenia, where he moved following the end of his last show Metonymy.
