There seems to be nothing that excites people like the advertisement copy of “Leave! You Worked Hard.” This is because the process of stopping what you were doing for a while and running to a strange place itself is enjoyable because it is a journey to find the vitality of life. Living in the same place all the time and meeting a new world makes us feel nervous and excited. We can’t forget the daily life of living in a stranger’s position while experiencing it in person. What does true travel mean? Each has a different reason, but wouldn’t the purpose be to realize what you’ve forgotten on the premise of daily life? Until not long ago, we experienced an unexpected daily life due to the pandemic situation. The one-day pause that has always been encountered has brought the world of online life forward and solved most things connected to life at home. The number of travelers has begun to increase again as COVID-19 subsides, although they have endured the frustration by checking overseas famous places while sitting with the search through the online. Just as it is an instinct engraved on the body, human desire prepares to go anywhere else with the task of With Corona. The philosopher Gabriel Marcel defined humanity as a “Homo viator,” that means “traveling (walking) human being.” In terms of meaning, human life itself is travel.

AN Da Eun also enjoys traveling. As an artist, a trip that may be aimed at inspiration has made her paint exotic landscapes that change every time and create a beautiful and comfortable appearance. She captures the place with her own eyes and also projects her life as if recording a diary. The pattern of being similar or distorted due to different memories is expressed as it is. If the objects in the bag expressed in past works were a secret gaze, the landscape focused on the character has more diverse properties. Photographs taken by the artist are used for scenes that confirm that they change every time along with spatial characteristics and draw characters. It naturally confirms the process itself that cannot reproduce everything experienced from the perspective of modern art. The intervention of the photograph, which was suddenly brought out, is a data that shows that the memory of the day cannot be constant with emotion. The artist decides to leave those memories to the world of imagination, confirming the memories that she had never thought of at that time. It is to draw a part of the day on the canvas through a medium called landscape painting. A concise figure is included in the symbolic feeling, and the light that by the paint layer is expressed interestingly, creating an implicit scene. It is a new scenery of travel places and includes an interesting story.

There are aspects of memory that are not easily defined. It is mysterious to think about the feeling that even if you forgot over time, you feel different from a phenomenon that comes to mind when you meet at a certain moment. Just as Marcel Proust confirmed emotions through the scent of madeleines, the landscape is an artistic material and is connected to daily life for the artist. There is a feeling of coming like a memory as if confirming individual moments of life. Depending on the viewer, it is a place where some people are new and others are familiar with what they may have experienced, giving them a distance of view between objectivity and subjectivity. As if leading a life with a perspective and looking at the world, the landscape is on an insignificant and important boundary.
