JIN Dallae & PARK WoohyukㅣThe Black Moon and the Rabbits

Who are you as an individual and artist?

We are JIN Dallae & PARK Woohyuk, artists dedicated to various practices, including installation, moving images, graphics, sound, and performance. Our objective is to offer opportunities for reflection on various facets of our society by observing, collecting, and reconstructing moments from our world.

What artworks are you showcasing in this exhibition?

The Black Moon and the Rabbits is a performance and installation. It is distinguished by a circular carpet, inclined planes, and platforms that resemble a stage. The performance consists of eight balls of differing diameters and ten performers. The performers execute straightforward, repetitious tasks, including passing balls between couples, rolling a large ball up the incline, and transferring a ball in a single direction within a group of six. The performances of these small groups are further developed into intergroup exchanges. The piece delves into the norms and patterns of society by means of these mechanical and repetitive actions and noises.

What message or experience do you aim to convey through your exhibition piece?

We examine, analyze, and reassemble scenes from the actual world into patterns, presenting them on the “stage” of an exhibition. The installation and performance abstractly interpret fragments of the duties and situations we encounter in our daily lives. They inspire viewers to contemplate and query reality and the world around them by reimagining the norms of the mundane world that are frequently disregarded.
