Marking the 20th anniversary of Nam June Paik’s passing in 2026, this session revisits his work and artistic legacy at a time when artificial intelligence and advanced technology have become part of everyday life.
Paik actively embraced the new technological media of his era, including video and telecommunications, expanding the forms and expressive territory of art while offering a new perspective on the relationships among technology, humanity, and society. In this session, experts active in different regions and art scenes come together to examine the significance of Paik’s art in the present.
The session also discusses what questions and possibilities his experimental spirit and artistic endeavors pose for creation and exhibition today, amid a changing technological environment. In illuminating Nam June Paik as a pioneer of technology-based art, it seeks at the same time to rethink art in the age of artificial intelligence that we now face.
