Commemorating the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Korea and Singapore, the exhibition brings together seminal works by Lee Ufan, Kim Guiline, Yun Hyong Keun, Lee Dong Youb, Park Seo Bo, Ha Chong Hyun, Quac Insik, Chung Sang Hwa, Kwon Young Woo, Kim Chong Hak, Choi Myoung Young, Kim Tae Ho, Kim Kang Yong and Jung Jong Mee — artists whose pioneering practices have profoundly shaped contemporary Korean art.

While diverse in material and approach, these artists are united by a shared philosophical inquiry into materiality, rhythm, and the metaphysical dimensions of painting. Their works reflect a profound engagement with tradition and modernity, where restrained gestures, repetition, and monochromatic surfaces echo a meditative dialogue with nature and time.

The subtle yet radical innovations of Dansaekhwa are juxtaposed with lyrical abstraction and structural experimentation, revealing a rich interplay of texture, process, and temporality that continues to influence generations of artists.

Presented by The Columns Gallery in Seoul and Singapore, the exhibition reflects a deep commitment to cultural exchange and artistic dialogue. It celebrates not only creative innovation but also the enduring relationship between Korea and Singapore.
