“The moments when we encounter old things or times evoke special emotions in us. The scratches and stains on old objects are evidence of time connecting the past and the present, and beyond that, we feel the laws of nature. The way they decay while being repeatedly repaired seems like a fusion of objects and nature, and I feel inspired by that.

I am especially interested in items from the 1900s. That was the era of my parents and grandparents, and there were items in my house that were popular around 1960. The atmosphere and design of those items still remain in my memory and influence the subject matter of my work. The design of old things reflects the culture and values of the times. I am fascinated by the unique shapes that reveal glimpses of that culture.

The children who appear in my work symbolize the temporality of the future, but at the same time, they have a connection with the memories of the past. I continue to create while imagining the transition that connects the past and the present, wanting to depict the moments when the past and the future intersect and resonate with each other.”

“Vicissitudes,” his debut solo exhibition in Korea, features a new body of works that combine the design and atmosphere of obsolete, worn-out objects to evoke nostalgia and create a unique worldview. The gaze of a child facing the future alone often acts as a catalyst, evoking personal memories of the past while prompting reflection on the present. He takes nostalgia as a central theme, blending the design and texture of old objects with modern sensibilities to create works that evoke a sense of nostalgia while reflecting contemporary tastes.
