Seoul Art Space Geumcheon – Studio Visit

Seoul Art Space Geumcheon of Seoul Foundation for Arts and Culture (SFAC) is a creative space, specializing in the field of visual arts, which is created by using a printing factory in Doksan-dong, Geumcheon-gu, Seoul. Resident artists are selected through an open call every year, regardless of genre, including painting, video, installation, and photography.

Seoul Art Space Geumcheon hosts an open studio just once a year to showcase the various activities and creative works of resident artists. For audiences participating in the Open Studio, it is a rare opportunity for the audience to observe some of the most promising contemporary artists and their works at close range and to vividly look into their creative journey.

This year’s open studio is set under the theme of ‘Behind the Highlights: Intersecting Scenes’ to enable artists, their works, and audiences to closely communicate with each other about the creative processes of the artists and the details behind the scenes.

Audiences can get a glimpse of unreleased or new works, and learn about the theme of the special exhibition, the explanations of the works on display, and behind-the-scene stories of the exhibition from the under the guidance of the curator. Above all, the ‘Artist’s Room’ provides an opportunity to communicate directly with the artist through artist’s work in artist’s studio.
