기관 소개 (영문) Since its establishment in 1969, the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art (MMCA), Korea has established itself as one of the country’s leading arts and cultural institutions, making its mark on the history of Korean contemporary art. Through an organic operating system that has developed among the museum’s four branches, beginning with Gwacheon in 1986, then Deoksugung in 1998, Seoul in 2013, and Cheongju in 2018, MMCA has actively contributed to the development of art and culture in Korea while offering the public the pleasure of enjoying art in their lives. With MMCA Gwacheon situated amid the beauty of nature and offering its renowned permanent collection, along with special exhibitions covering various visual art genres such as painting, sculpture, photography, and architecture; MMCA Deoksugung providing an overview of the domestic and international modern art scene from its historic site in an ancient palace; MMCA Seoul introducing new horizons for contemporary art across different genres; and MMCA Cheongju’s transformation from a tobacco production facility into a cultural center for the local region with enhanced storage and preservation capacity, we hope you will have a truly enriching experience of life and art uplifting each other through MMCA.

Kumho Museum of Art

Kumho Cultural Foundation has established itself as a leading mecenat institution dedicated to the development of Korean art and social contribution, beginning with the opening of the Kumho Gallery in 1989. In 1996, it expanded and relocated as the Kumho Museum of Art, serving as a vital platform that offers talented artists the opportunity to present their artistic visions beyond the boundaries of region and genre. The museum has concentrated on discovering and supporting innovative, competent young artists through its annual competition program, Kumho Young Artist, since 2004.

Leeum Museum of Art

SONGEUN

SONGEUN Art and Cultural Foundation is a non-profit organization established in 1989. The foundation’s name derives from the founding father’s nom de plume, “SONGEUN”, translating to ‘hidden pine tree’ as a means of capturing the spirit of the foundation’s deeply rooted mission to support emerging artists. In September 2021, SONGEUN unveiled its new space designed by the renowned Swiss architecture firm, Herzog & de Meuron, as their first-ever realized project in Korea. With this, SONGEUN has been positioned as a significant landmark in Seoul with the collective aspiration to both impart and contribute a meaningful influence on Korea’s cultural makeshift by broadening the exposure of Korean artists as well as the contemporary art scene.

Space K Seoul

'Space K' is Kolon group's art and culture sharing space established in 2011. 'Space K Seoul, which has expanded and opened in Magok-dong, Ganseo-gu, in September 2020, uses art to make unique social contributions, providing exhibition opportunities to new domestic and mid-level artists who deserve to be reappraised. In addition, 'Space K Seoul' strives to expand the base of contemporary art by continuously supporting artists to focus on their practice by holding exhibitions for foreign artists who are less known in Korea.

ARKO Art Center

Dongsug-gil, Jongno-gu, Seoul

ARKO Art Center took its first steps in 1974 under the name "Misulhoegwan" to provide artists with a creative space at a time when exhibition venues were critically scarce. In 1979, a new building designed by Kim Swoogeun, a master of Korean architecture, was constructed and opened within Marronnier Park, giving the center its iconic red brick exterior. With the launch of the Arts Council Korea (ARKO) in 2005, the center was reborn under its current name, and continues to stand as a public art museum leading the paradigm of contemporary art and as a cultural landmark in the heart of Daehakro.

Art Sonje Center

POSCO Art Museum

Platform-L Contemporary Art Center

Platform -L Contemporary Art Center opened to the public in May 2016 establishing itself as a locus for diverse and noteworthy creative perspectives which connect contemporary artists to audiences in Korea and beyond. Creators in visual art, performance and film cultivate an ongoing cultural dialogue with visitors to Platform-L’s spaces and work to diminish the cultural distance between audiences while fostering a wider appreciation for contemporary art. HEREDIUM

HEREDIUM refers to 'a land inherited as a legacy,' a restored multicultural art space on the former Oriental Development Company established in 1922. Since completing in 2022, it has presented various artistic programs, including contemporary art exhibitions and classical concerts.

Hoam Museum of Art

Hoam Museum of Art was founded as the permanent home of the traditional Korean artworks collected over three decades by Lee Byung-chull, the founder of the Samsung Group, whose pseudonym was Hoam.
