2GIL29 GALLERY is pleased to present HERNC’s solo exhibition, “Jardin of Solar,” from August 7 to 24, 2024. HERNC, born Eom Ik-jun in 1991, derives his pseudonym from the phrase “He realized nothing concrete,” which signifies his commitment to not being confined to rigid structures. From a young age, HERNC has shown a deep interest in creative activities, including writing, painting, ceramics, music, playing instruments, and cooking. These diverse experiences continue to fuel his evolving artistic identity.

HERNC, who did not receive formal art education within traditional institutions, is celebrated for his free and innovative expressions. His unique visual language reflects his curiosity and innocence, establishing him as a leading artist of his generation. Utilizing various tools and media, HERNC’s work showcases an original artistic world through an unrestricted approach. The vibrant hues and natural beauty of the Mediterranean landscape, inspired by its intense sunlight, serve as the primary motifs for this exhibition. The Mediterranean sun infuses his work with vivid colors and dynamic energy, playing a crucial role in his compositions.

Another significant element in HERNC’s work is Spain’s sobremesa culture. Sobremesa, the leisurely conversation following a meal, holds profound importance as it fosters deep connections and mutual understanding among people. HERNC’s experiences during these moments of warm interaction have greatly influenced his art. By embedding these experiences in his creations, he enables viewers to appreciate the beauty of human relationships and communication.

HERNC deeply integrates his travel experiences into his art. The nature, cultures, and moments he encounters in unfamiliar places are vividly conveyed to the audience. The new landscapes and people he meets, along with their interactions, are essential sources of his artistic inspiration. These experiences add vitality and diversity to his work, allowing viewers to feel as though they are journeying with him.

For instance, HERNC’s paintings capture the shimmering sunlight through olive trees, the sound of waves on the beach, and the warm smiles and conversations with locals. These elements form harmonious scenes within his works, enabling viewers to share in the moments he experienced. He adeptly captures the unique colors and atmospheres of specific locations, translating them onto canvas. In his works reflecting Spain’s sobremesa culture, the relaxed conversations and lingering impressions of a glass of wine are expressed through color and form. This artistic process recreates the profound simplicity of human interaction, prompting viewers to recall similar emotions from their own lives.

HERNC’s works transcend mere visual beauty, encompassing the emotions, memories, and cultural exchanges he has experienced during his travels. These elements enrich his art with depth and complexity, leaving a lasting impression on the audience. Through this, HERNC seeks to expand his artistic horizons and enhance communication through his art with diverse audiences.

This exhibition at 2GIL29 GALLERY will transform the gallery into a vital space for social interaction, harmonizing with the season’s positive energy and the mystical allure of nature. Through HERNC’s works, viewers will not only feel the warmth of the sun and the beauty of nature but also share in the diverse cultural moments he has experienced. The exhibition provides an opportunity to gain new inspiration from the beauty of nature and cultural moments HERNC has experienced. His works aim to go beyond visual appeal, incorporating emotions, memories, and experiences, helping viewers connect with their own lives. For HERNC, this exhibition represents a platform to broaden his artistic world and engage in meaningful exchanges with various individuals. For the audience, it will be an open forum to reflect on their lives and envision future plans, inspired by the vibrant life of the artist HERNC.
