Sun Gallery is pleased to hold the special exhibition “The Longing to Return to Nature” from March 13 to April 13, 2024. The Prospective:2024 is based on awareness of problems within the art world as well as social and environmental issues, and seeks to encourage sincere exploration of our inner self through art works and provide time for reflection. Let us seek to expand our perception and senses through works of art and pursue the philosophical essence beyond the superficial things we see and visual stimulation. The theme chosen through this approach is “The Longing to Return to Nature.”

Accordingly, we would like to once again remind ourselves of the moderation of acceleration and the aesthetics of slowness. We seek more time for self-fulfillment and liberation of the soul, and place more value on the comfort and stability of the mind. The process by which nature and humans grow is similar to a completed work of art. Things do not become complete as soon as they appear. An entity is a complete body that has matured through the repeated accumulation of various physical and voluntary processes and fruits of effort over a long period of time.

If you look closely at each artist’s work, you will see that traces of time, repetition, and the process of circulation are piled up on the flat picture surface, and this seems to be directly connected to the natural order of things. The overlapping of accumulated lines, planes, and colors are not only traces created through materials, tools, and the artist’s actions, but also traces of thoughts.

The blank space in the picture symbolizes the connection between other spaces and dimensions and becomes a place where consciousness resides. Impromptu and accidental things are prone to quick volatilization, but the traces of time and actions that each artist has accumulated will provide us with a moment to look back on the footsteps of our lives. As nature teaches us, we hope that this exhibition will be a time of recovery for relaxation and peace of mind.
