Liza Lou first came to prominence in 1996 when her room-sized sculpture Kitchen was exhibited at the New Museum in New York. Representing five years of solo work, this groundbreaking piece introduced her slow and meticulous process as well as her signature material, glass beads. Over the past two decades, Lou has continued to embrace materiality and labor as the subject of her work. On the occasion of the artist’s debut exhibition in Seoul this Fall, Lou’s talk at KIAF ART SEOUL will discuss artist’s career and practice in depth, with specific focus on Lou’s most recent body of works that will exhibited in Seoul.
