Introduction
Mark Hachem opened his first gallery in 1996 in Paris. In 2007 he opened a second exhibition space in New York. Then the last gallery opened in 2010 in Beirut, Lebanon. Mark Hachem is a gallery dedicated to Arab Modernism from the middle-east representing artists such as Helen Khal, Leila Nseir, Hussein Madi as well as the estates of Hamed Abdalla and Alfred Basbous. Mark Hachem has always been a collector of kinetic art and hence focused on Jesus Soto, Carlos Cruz Diez, Dario Perez Flores and Victor Vasarely. He supports the career of contemporary artists whose unique and significant work deserves to be exposed and measured next to the greatest of their generation as Chaouki Chamoun, Fatima El Hajj, Zena Assi, Leila Shawa, Nadim Kufi, Mahmoud Hamadani, Alois Kronschlaeger and Mathias Schmied.
With his engagement for his artists Mark Hachem is keen on expanding questions of representation to issues of existential urgencies in art to create a real dialogue that is of benefit to artists. Mark Hachem brings with him a dedicated patronage and experience that shifts his focus towards becoming a platform for kinetic, arab modernists and contemporary art. An ardent defender of modern and contemporary art, Mark Hachem is also an adviser and curator to private collectors and public institutions
The vision of the gallery is to present curated exhibitions and representations in art fairs that reverse the under-representation of artists from beyond the Occident and its perspective by linking the programs of the Paris space with Beirut.
