Beginning with East Asian landscape painting, his practice has developed a distinctive approach to landscape by combining the spirit of traditional Korean painting with contemporary visual language. The artist describes his practice as \u201cDrawing the World,\u201d exploring the relationships among personal memories and experiences, images from nature and everyday life, and the various elements that make up the world.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-64050\" src=\"https:\/\/static-edge.kiaf.org\/web\/2026\/10\/02133518\/%EC%9E%91%ED%92%88-%EC%9D%B4%EB%AF%B8%EC%A7%80-4_Be-Born-2025-Watercolor-on-Paper-100x70cm.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1500\" height=\"2191\" \/><em>Be Born, 2025. These elements overlap and unfold in parallel, forming multilayered landscapes. Lines, planes, colors, and forms are not merely visual elements, but small units that constitute the world. Images drawn from nature and everyday life, along with personal memories and experiences, come together on a single canvas, creating new landscapes through their relationships with one another. Courtesy the artist and GALLERY PALZO.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Regarding the works in this exhibition, the artist says: \u201cThe works in this exhibition do not depict specific places, but rather a world shaped by memory, emotion, and the continuous flow of all living things. Layers of lines, colors, and accumulated traces create landscapes where chance and order coexist in constant transformation.<\/p>\n<p>Moving between abstraction and representation, these landscapes do not seek to tell a single story. Instead, they invite viewers to discover their own memories and sensations within them\u2014a world that is endlessly changing, yet profoundly interconnected.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-64053\" src=\"https:\/\/static-edge.kiaf.org\/web\/2026\/10\/02134833\/%EC%A0%84%EC%8B%9C%EC%A0%84%EA%B2%BD-%EC%9D%B4%EB%AF%B8%EC%A7%80-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"4000\" height=\"3000\" \/><em>\u00a9 Lee Daecheon and GALLERY PALZO. <\/em><em>Courtesy the artist and GALLERY PALZO.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Lee Daecheon(b.1976, Uljin, Korea; lives and works in Berlin) graduated from Yeungnam University in Korea with a BFA in Painting, and studied Painting and Graphics under Prof. Adamski at the Dresden Academy of Fine Arts (Hochschule f\u00fcr Bildende K\u00fcnste Dresden) in Germany. He continued his studies under Prof. Lucander at the Berlin University of the Arts (Universit\u00e4t der K\u00fcnste Berlin), where he also completed the Meistersch\u00fcler program. He currently lives and works in Berlin. Lee has been invited to participate in solo and group exhibitions across Germany, including at Werkstatt Plettenberg, Freies Museum (Berlin), and the 1st Ostrale Biennale in Ostragehege, Dresden in 2007. He was selected as an invited artist at Werkstatt Plettenberg (Plettenberg, Germany) and received the Young Artists Prize from the Gemeinsamer Bundesausschuss (Berlin, Germany).
