Gallery FM is pleased to present \u2018The moon jar with Ume blossoms! 2021\u2019, a solo exhibition of artist SEO Sooyoung from May 27 through June 13, 2021.<\/p>\n

Seo has shown the attempts of sculpture and drawings of moon jars beyond the Korean painting area through steady work and upgraded new works every year.
\nIf the sculpture of Joseon white porcelain moon jars made of Korean paper was presented, this year’s new work \u2018The moon jar with Ume blossoms! 2021\u2019 is slightly different from the painting trends that have been accumulated, and the shape and composition of the screen feel more sophisticated.<\/p>\n

It results from the idea of reinterpreting the treasures of the royal family by bringing the subject of Korean traditional culture into the modern painting and promoting the excellence of Korean culture.<\/p>\n

Among the new works this year, the composition of two to three overlapping moon jars is unique, and the royal relics of the Joseon Dynasty, such as books, candlesticks, phoenixes, and peonies, are notable.
\nThe artist expresses the thick texture of Korean paper in the form of relief with a modern sense and the density of Mati\u00e8re delivered by mineral color adds to the perfection of the work. Also, the drawing, which is expressed on the colored paper, can feel the artist\u2019s individuality.<\/p>\n

Seo mainly uses a stone powder with colors of traditional painting and gold at the same time to reinterpret Korean things from a modern point of view to show an understated oriental aesthetic.<\/p>\n
