It explores the essence of Korean craft derived from natural curves and material properties. The purpose and ideals pursued by Korean artisans are not in objective beauty or material form, but in the subjective individuality and creativity that strive to reach the universality and essence of nature. The exhibition sheds light on the ultimate goal consistently pursued by Korean craft, which is the harmony between nature and artifice.

Exhibition Structure:

Chapter 1. The Beginning of Curves: Points and Lines
This chapter explores the beauty of curves starting from threads, the fundamental units of fiber art.

Chapter 2. Tranquility of the Mind: Live and Flow Like Water
Through works that use water as a motif, this chapter reflects the thoughts and sentiments of contemporary Korean craft.

Chapter 3. Inherent Materiality: Natural, Soft, and Vigorous
This chapter highlights the diversity and depth of contemporary Korean craft through materials and materiality such as leather, wood, clay, glass, metal, paper, and textiles.

Chapter 4. Under the Moonlight: Connecting, Weaving, and Quilting with Threads
This chapter explores the essence of vitality and healing through sewing and weaving.

Chapter 5. The Other Side of the Moon: Present Even If Unseen
This chapter expresses the invisible world through various media, expanding our perception and thought.

Organized by: Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism / Korea Craft & Design Foundation

Exhibition Curator: Hong Ji-su

Participating Artists: 30 in total
Kang Eun-hye, Kang Jeong-eun, Kang Ha-young, Kwak Kyung-hwa, Kim Ki-tae, Kim Dae-woong, Kim Sung-mi, Kim Young-il, Kim Yong-hoe, Kim Jun-soo, Min Ho-sun, Seong Myung-su, Son Min-jung, Song Hye-mi, An Jeong-yoon, Yang Jeom-mo, Yoo Nam-kwon, Yoon I-rang, Lee Kyung-han, Lee Soo-jong, Lee Seung-hee, Lee Yong-gi, Lee Eun, Lee Tae-hoon, Lee Hye-mi, Jang Yeon-soon, Jung Jae-hyo, Cha Seung-eon, Choi Hong-seon, Han Gil-hong

We invite you to experience the essence and aesthetic values captured by Korean craft through this exhibition, and to join us in exploring the creative journey of Korean craft, which has evolved from traditional roots to contemporary sensibilities.

Korea Craft & Design Foundation KCDF Gallery
8, Insadong 11-gil, Jongno-gu, Seoul, Republic of Korea
82 2 732 9382

WEB INSTAGRAM YOUTUBE

[50,52
post-45808","insights","type-insights","status-publish","hentry","category-insight","category-articles
["ko","en
["GET
