This time, “My Beatrice; IDOL” will focus more on the artist’s inner idols expressed in various mediums and colors, showcasing more than 30 different types of Idols, ranging from dolls made by hand sewing, tapestries, wooden reliefs, with previously unpublished collections.

The word Idol, which we frequently use, is originally defined as a mythical marionette, and in the dictionary meaning, an idol is defined as someone who is loved by many and often worshiped as a god. Beatrice, the title of this exhibition, represents Dante’s artistic inspiration, utopia, and the artist’s attitude toward idols as eternal lovers.

Humans in marginal circumstances will ask for help from the celestial being, and the heavenly world promises us that one day we will have a place to rest after suffering.

The artist’s Idol, who has been constantly interested in the religious worldview, was directed based on various media such as novels, comedies, and myths. This aesthetic attitude is in line with the artist’s tendency to pursue and express the paradoxical aspects of life and death, just as Orpheus, a mythical being, headed to the underworld of death to revive Euridice, his lover.

And he said he believes that love is something that no one can stop and that the light of love can penetrate even the darkest darkness of the deepest underworld……he sings all these words to the tune of an instrument……so as a human being, you can always make a big mistake, a terribly stupid mistake……maybe she never followed behind her…… but surprisingly, when she turned her head, she was there. Less than two steps away from yourself. But there was already a boundary between the two…

Excerpts from “Thinking of Love, Patrick Süskind”

UARTSPACE
2F, 10, Apgujeong-ro 71-gil, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, Korea
+82 2 544 8585

WEB INSTAGRAM FACEBOOK

[50,51
post-4511","insights","type-insights","status-publish","hentry","category-insight","category-stories
["ko","en
["GET
