The exhibition runs from\u00a0 June 25th to July 27th and offers an exclusive look into\u00a0 Choi\u2019s latest body of work.<\/p>\n Born in Gimhae, South Korea, in 1987, Rala Choi has made\u00a0 a name for himself with his passionate work that strives to\u00a0 capture raw emotions and study the intricate relationships\u00a0 between individuals. In Like a Blossom<\/em>, Choi continues this\u00a0 exploration, presenting a series of photographs that weave\u00a0 an impassioned narrative, inviting the observer into an\u00a0 intimate journey of a romantic relationship.<\/p>\n After his solo presentation at Alzueta Gallery Tur\u00f3 in\u00a0 September 2023, Like a Blossom <\/em>takes us through the stages\u00a0 of a romantic relationship, depicted in a theatrical format\u00a0 with four distinct phases: flowers, ecstasy, intimacy, and\u00a0 reapproach. These vibrant images symbolize\u00a0 the budding stages of love, where emotions are fresh and\u00a0 blossoming. Three pieces in this phase represent the initial sparks of affection, similar to small blossoms growing into a flourishing bouquet.<\/p>\n Second phase: ecstasy<\/p>\n This phase includes three previous works by Choi, showcasing moments of euphoric companionship. The\u00a0 photographs capture the essence of joy, movement, and the\u00a0 mutual growth that comes from shared experiences. The photographs show lovers closing the gap between them, finding each other once again. Choi\u2019s dedication to analogue photography shows itself not only through the use of a large format camera with polaroid film and vintage lens, but is also apparent in the applied gum print technique (bichromate gum).
