Inspired by the Seoul Forest, Lee presents his “Greenhouse” series alongside the “Pink Man” series, which debuted in 2019. This exhibition offers a rare glimpse into Soungsoo Lee’s creative evolution over the past decade.<\/p>\n \uac24\ub7ec\ub9ac\ud53c\uce58 \uc11c\uc6b8 1\uce35 \uc804\uc2dc\uc804\uacbd \uc774\uc131\uc218 vs \uc774\uc131\uc218<\/em><\/p>\n As Lee navigates through changes in style, his intention to embrace diversity and expand his artistic expression remains evident. Rather than appearing disjointed, the exhibition conveys a cohesive message, inviting viewers to immerse themselves in Soungsoo Lee’s unique artistic universe. By showcasing works from both series in one space, the exhibition fosters a sense of connection between the artist and the audience, highlighting shared experiences in contemporary society.<\/p>\n \uac24\ub7ec\ub9ac\ud53c\uce58 \uc11c\uc6b8 1\uce35 \uc804\uc2dc\uc804\uacbd_\uc774\uc131\uc218vs\uc774\uc131\uc218<\/em><\/p>\n The greenhouse series, which has been ongoing since 2014, captivates with its oil paintings that experiment with biblical symbolism and irony in the controlled environment of a greenhouse. The greenhouse is interpreted not only as a wilderness where one hopes for salvation like the Garden of Eden or the Samaritan but also as an ideal world beyond tragedies like the sinking of the Sewol ferry.<\/p>\n \uac24\ub7ec\ub9ac\ud53c\uce58_\uc11c\uc6b8_\uc774\uc131\uc218vs\uc774\uc131\uc218_\uc804\uc2dc\uc804\uacbd<\/em><\/p>\n The charm of the Pinkman series, which has been predominantly featured since 2019, lies in the fact that it embodies the moment when everyone experiences eternity. The Pinkman series captures the warmth of realization felt within oneself in that moment. Pinkman adds warmth by sharing the self, expands when realizing the essence of self, and shines when experiencing the true joy of life.<\/p>\n Lee received his BFA in sculpture from Seoul National University. In 2011,Lee had a studio residency at Gallery Force in Beijing, China. In 2018, he received a Master’s degree in public art from SungShin Graduate School of Culture, Industry, and Art. Currently, he works and lives in Seoul, Korea. Soungsoo Lee has previously showcased his works in solo exhibitions such as “Greenhouse” (2015) and “Pinkman Thinking” (2019) at Galerie PICI in Seoul.
