Gallery FM is pleased to present < Garden of Treasure_Timelessness >, a solo exhibition of artist SEO Sooyoung from May 25 through June 11, 2022.<\/p>\n

Seo wants to tell us that the noble beauty created by our ancestors is valid even beyond time. Seo believes that this is the essence of Korean aesthetics and is showing it to suit today’s senses. Based on various traditional painting techniques, Seo creates her own way and language of expression by adding gold leaf, traditional ink painting techniques, traditional coloring techniques, and techniques applying the properties of Korean paper.<\/p>\n

What does Seo want to say with the technique? The aim of this journey is a high-quality culture among our cultures. To put it bluntly, Seo wants to revive our luxurious aesthetics created by the aristocrats, centered on the royal culture, in her works. Seo thinks that it is a weapon that can protect our cultural identity against the influx of Western culture with great power.<\/p>\n

In this exhibition, ink and color harmonize on paper relief works. The artist’s unique strong sense of color, which doubled the composition and expressive power, can also be seen. The artist’s own attempts to apply the properties of various materials accumulated over the years always come as a new visual stimulus. The screen is divided by the S-curve of the Taegeukgi, a symbol of originality, and the random dots of five colors that seem to transcend time and space feel fantastic. Among them, a pot designated as a national treasure is painted in a white porcelain moon jar, and the novel idea of reconstructing it with the sensibility of a new generation stands out.<\/p>\n
