Designed to both create and strengthen relationships between artists, writers, and cultural heavyweights, the Talks Program promises to cultivate new ideas through spirited debate. Topics broached in these sessions will include insight into K-Art, the Asian art fairs ecosystem, Korean experimental art, effects of artificial intelligence in art, new media art, collecting, environment and artist talks.<\/span><\/p>\n

\nMedia art has greatly expanded its influence at the forefront of contemporary culture and art by bridging the gap between the unfamiliar territories of science and technology. As our daily lives became increasingly intertwined with technological and media environments, media art has shifted from the periphery to the center of discussions, offering a diverse range of perspectives and possibilities. Due to its responsiveness to the evolution of various technologies, the themes, domains, and significance of media art have dynamically evolved throughout its history. What constituted media art in the past, what defines media art today, and what could media art potentially evolve into?<\/span><\/p>\n

Over the past ten years, East Asia has seen an unprecedented rise in the establishment of art fairs within the region. These developments are widely seen as not only reflective of the growth of the Asian art market at large but also indicative of the fact that evolution in the regional art scene is currently unfolding with art fairs as its focal point and the opinion that such a directionality should continue to be upheld. Directors of different art fairs examine the tenability of this viewpoint as well as discuss how the art fairs of Asia might indeed formulate identities that set themselves apart from the art fairs of the Western world and come to bolster Asian galleries and artists.<\/span><\/p>\n

The buzz around the terms Korean art, the Korean Wave(Hallyu), and K-Art is growing. When did the first international exchange of Korean art begin? This talk program will examine K-ART, which is widely used in various fields, based on exhibitions held overseas. We will examine how K-ART is analyzed in the global cultural sphere in places with different cultural and historical systems, and how we define K-ART. This session delves into the realm of \u2018Korean Experimental Art\u2019 during the 1960s and 1970s. The movement of \u2018Korean Experimental Art\u2019 was initiated through medium experiments by several groups of artists in the 1960s, giving rise to the practice of Happening, Earth Art, Conceptual Art, and more. During the 1970s, in the face of the authoritarian regime, Experimental Art meant more than just artistic experiments; it signaled the establishment of new foundations for the avant-garde and international contemporaneity.<\/span><\/p>\n

As the many rapid changes in our environment and society become increasingly difficult to comprehend, artists working today are attempting to explore and capture the strange, uncanny, and tragic qualities of contemporary life.<\/span><\/p>\n

In this conversation with three leading artists\u2014Keem Jiyoung, Heecheon Kim, Inbai Kim\u2014we hear about their process of constructing artworks that reflect on recent transformations, and deformations, that have taken place in societies around the world.
