PARK Joowon Solo Exhibition

PARK Joowon

PARK Joowon, 겹의 대지, Acrylic on canvas, 65.2x91cm, 2025

Certain words and actions never fully become language. instead, they remain only as silence and traces.

PARK Joowon, 돌이켜보면, Acrylic on panel, 112.1×162.2cm, 2025

Park Joowon’s paintings begin from this sensation of silence that could never be fully articulated, and from the traces left behind by absence.
PARK Joowon, 육해공의 가장자리, Acrylic on canvas, 23x87cmx3pcs, 2026

For the artist, encounters with others are not merely incidental events, but fundamental moments through which the self is formed and unsettled. Rather than focusing on fixed forms, she turns her attention to the fluid narrative of relationships—constantly shifting as emotions and memories brush against and overlap with one another.
PARK Joowon, 이처럼 무수한 것들, Acrylic on panel, 120x345cm, 2025

The recurring images within her paintings exist as individual units, yet they intrude upon and layer over each other, creating a single psychological landscape.

PARK Joowon, 잔면, Acrylic on panel, 80x45cm, 2025

Like relationships that accumulate and sediment over time, the canvas becomes more than a simple background; it transforms into a space of silence and a density of time permeated by memory and emotion. Within this space, viewers come face to face with the traces of the relationships they themselves have passed through.

PARK Joowon, 집짓기, Acrylic on panel, 50x30x3.8cm, 2025

The emotional temperature felt by viewers standing upon the ambiguous boundary between relationship and absence, memory and silence in Park Joowon’s paintings resembles the hour of midnight—just after one day has ended and before another begins, when all movement and noise seem, for a brief moment, to come to a halt.
