LKIF is pleased to present Say night night, night night, a solo exhibition by Rowley Haynes.

This exhibition marks the artist’s second solo show in Seoul and brings together six oil paintings that quietly explore moments of intimacy, solitude, and the subtle experience of looking.

Haynes delicately weaves figuration and abstraction, presenting scenes from daily life that are both observational and metaphorical. The figures in his works dwell within an inner stillness, inhabiting spaces free from the gaze of others. Haynes observes those close to him with an almost diaristic tenderness, capturing gentle moments while maintaining a measured distance on the canvas. This tension allows his figures to extend beyond the personal realm and take on a more universal presence.

The artist notes that watching someone sleep is an act of profound intimacy. The exhibition title, Say night night, night, night, holds the warmth of such moments. Haynes’s gaze toward sleeping figures flows through the exhibition with a quiet rhythm, meeting the title’s soft whisper and opening a subtle emotional field between the viewer and the viewed.

Haynes does not offer a narrative. Instead, he creates a space for the sharing of delicate empathy and quiet attentiveness, inviting viewers to pause, to look, and to feel without grasping. Immersed in the spaces and moments the artist has observed, viewers may find their own gaze becoming an intimate gesture.

Rowley Haynes (born 1996, UK) graduated from the Royal Drawing School, London, and currently lives and works in London. Haynes primarily creates intimate, multi-layered drawings on paper and paintings on canvas that capture personal snapshots. Like entries in a visual journal, his compositions navigate the space between observation and imagination, transforming everyday moments through a lens of subtle estrangement.
