The Journey of Baram

GEONWOO LEE

Installation View (1)

“What wind are you facing right now?”
Lee Geonwoo’s Baram Series explores the currents of human life and inner emotions through the intangible medium of ‘wind.’ The winds of the past evoke memory and time, the winds of the present capture fleeting experiences, and the winds yet to come signify future possibilities. Within these works, wind becomes a visual language that embodies traces of time and emotion—both abstract and experiential.

The artist approaches ‘wind’ not merely as the movement of air (wind) but also as a metaphor for inner desire (wish). Through color, form, and rhythm, the works intuitively convey life and emotion. The scattered rectangular fragments across the canvas act as frozen moments and shards of feeling, inviting viewers to project their own inner world and engage in profound reflection.

The exhibition 〈The Journey of Baram〉 structures the experience of wind into three journeys, allowing viewers to explore its temporal, spatial, and psychological dimensions:
• Now – The Present Wind: Encourages an intuitive encounter with the moments and emotions of life.
• Within – The Inner Wind: Guides viewers to explore inner forms and flows through the scattered fragments and spaces of wind.
• Beyond – The Expanding Wind: Symbolizes freedom and possibility, moving beyond fixed spaces toward new horizons.

The Journey of Baram captures a time that is both still and dynamic, leading viewers to deeply reflect on their inner winds and emotions, while gently inspiring imagination of unseen possibilities and hopes—the “Wind of Luck” yet to arrive.
