2GIL29 GALLERY presents 𝘚𝘵𝘪𝘭𝘭, 𝘉𝘦𝘵𝘸𝘦𝘦𝘯: 𝘈 𝘎𝘢𝘻𝘦 𝘛𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘓𝘪𝘯𝘨𝘦𝘳𝘴, a group exhibition featuring five artists—Woong Kim, Daewoong Nam, Heungseop Jung, Charlie Han, and Dohyun Kim—from October 14 to November 6, 2026. The exhibition invites visitors to shift their perspective amid the accelerating pace of urban life and to reflect on their inner selves and the world around them through art. Autumn, with its gradual transformation, offers an opportunity to look back on the passage of time and reconsider familiar surroundings from a different perspective. Drawing on this seasonal sensibility, 𝘚𝘵𝘪𝘭𝘭, 𝘉𝘦𝘵𝘸𝘦𝘦𝘯: 𝘈 𝘎𝘢𝘻𝘦 𝘛𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘓𝘪𝘯𝘨𝘦𝘳𝘴 explores the value of contemplation and introspection, qualities that can become increasingly elusive in contemporary society. In cities where images and information constantly intersect, we often lose opportunities to observe our surroundings attentively or reconnect with our own senses. The exhibition turns toward emotions and inner movements that are easily overlooked, exploring how artistic encounters can open up new ways of perceiving the world around us. “Still, Between” does not simply refer to a state of silence or stillness. Rather, it describes the subtle spaces between everyday moments, between oneself and others, and between visible reality and inner consciousness. These intervals become spaces for reflection, allowing us to move beyond habitual ways of seeing, reconsider the world around us, and encounter emotions and memories that may have remained unrecognized. Through the works of five artists employing distinct visual languages and media, the exhibition explores these shifts in perception from multiple perspectives.

Woong Kim (b. 1944) discovers the formal possibilities inherent in his surroundings and in objects, reinterpreting Korean aesthetic sensibilities through the interplay of color and form in a contemporary visual language. In his work, objects transcend their role as subjects of representation and emerge as distinct formal entities governed by their own chromatic and structural order. Through this approach, he delicately reveals the aesthetic value and sensory nuances embedded within his subjects.

Daewoong Nam (b. 1974) investigates the complex relationships between images, memory, and historical consciousness through painting. He focuses on how past events and images are transformed through memory and sometimes reconstructed as mythic or fictional narratives, questioning how what we accept as truth comes into being. His work reveals memory not as a passive record that preserves the past, but as an ongoing process continually reshaped by present perspectives and interpretations.

Heungseop Jung (b. 1975) transforms consumer goods and visual elements of popular culture into artistic objects, examining the symbolic meanings and values assigned to objects within consumer society. Objects conventionally understood through their functions and uses acquire new meanings and relationships within an artistic context. This transformation invites viewers to reconsider established ways of seeing, the desires shaped by consumption, and the broader social structures through which value is constructed.

Media artist Charlie Han (b. 1973) explores the relationship between image-making and the perception of reality through photography and time-based media. The selection, editing, and reconfiguration of media images do more than communicate reality; they also construct particular perspectives and interpretations. His work reveals both the possibilities and limitations of images as records, questioning how the information and visual experiences we encounter shape our understanding of truth.

Dohyun Kim (b. 1995) translates inner emotions and psychological states into abstract visual language through repetitive gestures, the layering of lines and planes, and the accumulation of dimensional textures. The rhythms and layers that emerge through repetition and accumulation create formal spaces in which tension and release, balance and change coexist. His practice explores the possibility of inner stability and renewal, translating intangible psychological experiences into a tangible visual language.

Together, the five artists explore distinct territories, including objects and images, memory and history, consumer culture, and inner emotional experience. Their practices converge in their questioning of what lies beyond the visible and in their capacity to open up new possibilities for understanding the world. Rather than leading to a single interpretation, their diverse media and visual languages generate multiple layers of meaning shaped by each viewer’s experiences and perceptions.

𝘚𝘵𝘪𝘭𝘭, 𝘉𝘦𝘵𝘸𝘦𝘦𝘯: 𝘈 𝘎𝘢𝘻𝘦 𝘛𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘓𝘪𝘯𝘨𝘦𝘳𝘴 emerges from the intersection of these artistic perspectives. The subtitle, A Gaze That Lingers, emphasizes the act of looking beyond an immediate impression and allowing meaning to unfold through sustained attention. Just as the changing seasons lend different atmospheres to the same landscape, artworks reveal new meanings through the memories, emotions, and experiences each viewer brings to them. Situated at the intersection of the city’s dynamic rhythms and the gallery’s relative quiet, the exhibition transforms viewing into an opportunity to reconsider one’s relationship with oneself and the surrounding world. Rather than prescribing fixed meanings or a particular mode of interpretation, 𝘚𝘵𝘪𝘭𝘭, 𝘉𝘦𝘵𝘸𝘦𝘦𝘯: 𝘈 𝘎𝘢𝘻𝘦 𝘛𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘓𝘪𝘯𝘨𝘦𝘳𝘴 offers an open space in which visitors can discover their own questions and develop their reflections through the distinct artistic languages of the five participating artists. 2GIL29 GALLERY hopes that the quiet exchange between artworks and viewers will open up new perspectives on art and nurture possibilities for reflection, allowing each visitor to discover their own way of seeing and understanding the world.
